Family Centered Care (FCC) Conference

RMHC India hosted its inaugural Care Conference on August 7, 2023, in Mumbai, aimed at raising awareness about cancer stigma in society. This pivotal event brought together an array of experts, caregivers, and families to discuss and dispel myths surrounding cancer, fostering a supportive community environment for cancer-affected families.

The conference sought to address prevalent cancer biases, inspire change, and build awareness.

  • Dispelled the myth that cancer is contagious.

  • Highlighted the fear and stigma often associated with a cancer diagnosis, which sometimes leads families to abandon treatment.

  • Emphasized the importance of early detection and a positive attitude towards treatment, as echoed by oncologists.

  • Stressed the need for open communication between parents and children to boost morale and aid in healing.

  • Highlighted the role of schools in supporting children with cancer through transparent communication.

Focusing On Psychological Wellbeing

Healing is not just physical, it’s emotional, psychological, and deeply human.

In our continued effort to support families beyond just providing space, RMHC India hosts mental wellbeing sessions, grounded via multiple principles such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

Through these sessions:

  • Families are gently guided to acknowledge and accept difficult emotions like fear, uncertainty, and grief.

  • Simple, practical techniques are being introduced to navigate emotional distress and build inner resilience

  • Relaxation exercises are shared to help ease anxiety and create calm in the chaos
